Nancy Wilson...Artist

Success! Message received.

Nancy Wilson is an established Florida nature artist, painting the flora and fauna of the west coast islands. She works mainly with fluid acrylics on canvas, and sells her original paintings and matted gicleé prints, framed or unframed. As an Audubon member she is drawn to painting birds she photographs on the beaches and rivers, often from her kayak. With her background in interior design, she enjoys the colorful island architecture and has recently added renderings of the funky bistros and local hang-outs on Sanibel and Captiva to her collection of works.

An award-winning artist and recipient of a Robert Rauschenberg scholarship, Nancy Wilson was selected by the Earth Shine Institute to do six paintings to honor and celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Anne Morrow Lindbergh's book Gift from the Sea. Her art was showcased in the Times of the Islands magazine in 2015, Gulf Coast Times in 2006, the Tropicalia section of the Fort Myers NewsPress, and other publications. For four years Nancy was a consulting artist for the Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation's annual art auction. Her 3-D replica of Randy Wayne White’s Doc Ford House was auctioned and purchased by the author with proceeds going to SCCF. Another 3-D project was a replica of the Baily family homestead which was also donated and can be seen in the Sanibel Historical Village.

Nancy’s love of adventure and her desire to constantly explore different media prompt her to approach art as unexplored territory, always new and changing. Her affinity for creative arts has driven her to work in everything from drawing, design, painting and photography, to three-dimensional works in woodcarving, pottery, weaving and sculpture. Nancy's journey continues to inspire her collection with a unique energy, a fearless sort of joie de vivre.
